| The way you described the magic system seemed to be very broad, and open to quite a lot of interpretations. I know that you said basically anythings considered godmodding would be uncool and unacceptable, but what would be within the limits of that? Like say, would conjuring death beams and force fields be an acceptable extension and interpretation of energy manipulation, or would it be considered god modding? And what is godmodding specifically? IF this seems like it would belong in the discussion about roleplay, putting this here then. I just didn't want to clutter up the RP discussion with this. | |

| Nah, this is a fine place to put it.
I take it you've read all my threads, so kudos to you! Basically, I'd say yes, while technically death rays are possible, even Misery couldn't kill you in one hit. Her lightning did what, five damage? Overall she was probably a more mediocre witch, but still. I would say you'd have to be of Jenka's caliber for death rays, and I already said that was a no-no without permissions and such.
Forcefields could be a bit more of a thing. But no energy field can hold up under the weight of a monster tank, and it'd be easier just to blow it up. So, yes, to an extent forcefields are a thing, but again. Witches are better at magic than Humans or Mimiga or anything ever will be, really. It's their thing.
As to 'What is Godmodding,' I'd say it's simply put as this: A character doing or knowing something that it would not, taking into account the setting, be able to do. So basically, if Joe was being ambushed by Biff & Co., but randomly knew not to go home that route, that's godmodding. Or if he went home like normal, and busted some insane ninja moves even though his character sheet says he's a Neat.Educational.Rich.Dude and a wimp, that's also godmodding.
That answer your questions?
Edit: I suppose, to sum this up in five words: Within the realms of sanity. | |

| Yes, it does, and quite well too. I agree with you on the death rays, and the way you said tank can counter force fields is interesting too. Also, thanks for clarifying what godmodding could be. I wonder, though, how far you can tweak magic to fit a character or how you would make it work for them. Guess you need to experiment a bit to see what would work, and what wouldn't, in the releams of rp. That, or asking a mod/admin if a power is Ok, or OP. | |

| The last sentence. That is the best advice for magic. If you don't know, ask! | |

| I had an idea: why not make this thread a place where future user can post their idea on what their magic they would be using is, and one of the mods could post here whether or not it good or bad. Just a suggestion. It would at least not clutter up your pm box! | |

| Yes, but people may be reluctant to share the ideas they are unsure of with everyone. | |

| Hmm, I didn't think of that. Good point you made. Perhaps sticking to the old system would be best. | |
