At the edge of all that's known.

"What am I" a voice echoed in the windless night. The source of this voice a old robot standing on one of the larger ledges of the outer wall. He pulled a kukri from its holster strapped to his leg. Inspecting the large blade he asked it how long it's been with him. Shaking his thinking what a stupid question he sat down at the edge with a clunk and started sharpening his blade on his forearm.

(I might be bloody horrible with this. XD just counted the words I think there's 75 exact)

"If I had to guess, I'd say a robot. But your real question is a bit deeper, isn't it?" Said the Glutton, as he sat next to the metal man. "Though, the blade might be an easier inquiry." Without asking, he took the blade gingerly, and weighed it in his hands. "Ooh, this one likes you. Been around you good long while. Not magic, though. Pity." He plopped the blade back in the machine's metal lap, and stared with no vision out into the open sky. It smelled wondrous. "You seem to have questions in your metal head. And I do have a lot of answers."

(( Right, have no idea what Rabbot's up to. I can post for you now :P ))

The Robot was about to snatch his blade back from the glutton befor being interrupted with confused with what he said. "How do you know that?" the bot asked as his blade was chucked in his lap and put it back in its holster. "Also what's ya name?"

"I know many things. Though, this one is just because of my whimsical talents." He paused, and kept staring off into space. "My name is Isaac. And my title is the Glutton," said he simply. "What is your name, machine?" He grinned widely, and looked with keen interest at the robot. "You look so confused as to what your purpose is. How long have you wondered? How long has your pain endured?" Twin fissures lilted across his eyes.

"As far as I know my names Brad,well its actually B.R.A.D but I don't think any one wants to say that." the bot said watching the fissures cross Isaacs eyes "as for how long, probably two to three months. searching this island the whole time. I woke here, so I must be here for a reason." Brad finished turning his rectangle head to face Isaac with his one blue eye glowing.

Isaac's dead eyes twinkled, and he let out a slight laugh. "Well, you seem to be quite the enigma then, mm?" He sniffed, and the robot's appearence sharpened in his thoughts. "Though, I wouldn't be so sure about there being a reason." His mouth split into a wide, nearly cynical grin. "The universe hardly ever works in a way that's predictable, seldom gives a reason." He raised a finger, and a little white rectangular creature sprouted out of nothing, plopping onto his lap. "Try as they might, there is no scientific explanation to that. Nor even a close-to-telling as to why it exists in the first place." His grin widened still. "The world is not a nice place. But it is a chaotic one."

Brad watched the little creature then looked back at Issac. "Are you suggesting I make my own reasons to be here?" Brad asked befor turning his head back to the horizon. The moon was seting and a light wind had picked up, still a lovely night to enjoy just not as calm. "May I ask where you came from and if not from here why you are still here?"

Isaac's smiled returned to a more more normal, knowing level. "Yes, that is exactly what I'm suggesting. Rather observant of you." He held up the tiny Puu, which let out a slight purr. "I came from below, in a land a good deal away. It was my appetite that allowed me so smell, sense and taste the magical aura on this island about oh, a century or so ago." He licked his lips, but in a slightly mournful way. "But this island is seemingly indestructible to my magics." He conjured a hammer, and chipped a piece off of where he was sitting. Then he pointed at the same spot, and a beam crimson energy shot out, just to reflect off into the night sky. "On the surface that could have cleaved a house in half. I only stay here to hone my infinite capability." He stopped smiling.

"I can't jubge for using the island to live forever for Machines can last forever them selfs if treated right" Brad committed patting issac on the back befor standing up and walking away from the edge towards to face of the wall. "Even if I do make my own reason who says my old reason wont come and bit my metal booty?" Brad said turning to face Isaac. "I know what your saying but what if I put others in the line of fire just so I can feel.... What dose one with a reason feel?"

Isaac remained seated, because getting up to look the robot in the eye would be useless to a blind man. "Purpose." He raised a finger, and a flurry of skeletal bats flew off into the recesses of the outer wall. "The word you are looking for is purpose, and it is an inalienable right to anyone with sentience." He turned his head slightly. "Even robots. And, about a duty- One must not worry themselves over what may or may not be- just be ready for it, but not overly prepared and forgetful of their own life."

"Even the dead will live with a strong enough purpose" the bot said quietly as the bats disappeared into the cracks. "Your right Isaac" Brad said walking back to the edge to stand next to Isaac. The moon was slowly decanting to the horizon in the distance. "You have been here a long time. What do you recommend a bot like me do? Brad asked with a more determined sound in is robotic voice.
